Claim Your Profile

How claiming works, what you sign, and what changes after you own your SOCI4L profile.

Getting Started
Last updated: 3/9/2026

When you first connect a wallet to SOCI4L, the platform either finds an existing profile or creates a new, unclaimed profile for your address. Claiming that profile links it to you as the owner.

What is an unclaimed profile?

Before you claim:

  • The system may reserve a basic profile record for your wallet address.
  • Some information (such as public transactions or assets) can already be displayed.
  • You cannot edit profile fields, manage links or access the dashboard.

Unclaimed profiles exist so that visitors can see consistent public pages for active wallets even before the owner arrives.

Claim flow step by step

  1. Connect your wallet
Make sure you are connected with the wallet that should own the profile.
  2. Open the claim prompt
If your address has an unclaimed profile, SOCI4L shows a banner or button such as Claim Profile on the dashboard or profile page.
  3. Review the sign‑in message
Clicking Claim opens your wallet with a human‑readable message (for example, “I am claiming control of the SOCI4L profile for address 0x… on Avalanche C‑Chain”).
  4. Sign the message
This is a gasless operation: no AVAX is spent and no on‑chain transaction is created. It simply proves that you control the private key for the address.
  5. Profile becomes owned
After verification, the profile is marked as claimed and linked to your wallet session.

What changes after claiming

Once your profile is claimed, you can:

  • Edit name, bio, avatar, roles and status.
  • Manage links and social accounts from the Links and Studio tabs.
  • Configure privacy, donations and analytics preferences from Account settings.
  • Register optional slug / username and, if desired, upgrade to Premium.

Visitors will still see your public profile at the same URL, but now it reflects your chosen branding and configuration.

Losing or changing ownership

Because ownership is tied to your wallet address:

  • As long as you control the same wallet, you control the profile.
  • If you permanently lose access to the wallet, the profile cannot be reclaimed with a different wallet without protocol‑level migration tools (a future feature).

SOCI4L never takes custody of your keys and cannot sign or move funds on your behalf. Claiming only records that the owner of a given address has proven control at least once.
