Every figure covers the last 30 complete days and is compared with the 30 before it. A chain the upstream reports nothing for shows a dash, not a zero.

We sample senders out of recent blocks and ask this chain how many transactions each of them has ever sent. Because the sample is drawn from blocks it is weighted by activity, so it describes this chain's traffic rather than its user base.

Sources and method
Figures come from the public Avalanche metrics API at metrics.avax.network, which publishes the same daily series for every registered L1 as it does for the C-Chain. Coverage across the L1s is genuinely uneven: where a chain reports no series, this page shows a dash rather than a zero, because no data and no activity are not the same claim.
The standing above is computed once, by the same code that draws the ranking on the main Avalanche page, so a chain's row there and its page here cannot disagree. Chain names, logos and explorer links come from the public Glacier registry.
Every series is downloadable without a key: /api/avalanche/metrics?chainId=8021&metric=txCount&format=csv
