Everything so far has happened on the C-Chain. C is for contract: it runs the EVM, it speaks the same language as Ethereum, and it is where essentially every Avalanche app you have used actually lives.
That is why an Avalanche address looks exactly like an Ethereum one. Same format, same key, different network.
